BESTSELLER
At Bestseller, they go to great lengths for an aesthetically pleasing result.
A SOPHISTICATED SOLUTION THAT MAINTAINS THE SIMPLICITY AND ELEGANCE OF THE ARCHITECTURE.
C.F. Møller's headquarters for Bestseller graces the Aarhus waterfront with a striking combination of natural stone, columns, beams, and sleek glass facades. From the outset, it was essential to preserve the simplicity of the architecture, which led to the selection of indoor roller blinds for solar shading. The roller blinds are discreet from the outside and do not significantly affect the facade, even when lowered, explains Architect MAA Jens Fjord Thomsen from C. F. Møller, and adds:
"For the glass facades, it was essential to conceal the floor separations from view. So, we pushed the boundaries, leaving minimal space to install and conceal the sun shading. Our main challenge was to integrate the sun shading so that it blended naturally with the facades without causing any disruption. This required a lot of coordination on the construction site, but we achieved it successfully."
AESTHETICS FIRST
The 1300 roller blinds are crafted from a special fabric which has linen-like qualities despite being synthetic.
"We recommended this fabric due to its distinctive character. Additionally, the dark colour of the blind enables employees to enjoy the view even when the roller blind is deployed. While indoor sun shading may not be as effective as an outdoor solution, in this instance, aesthetics and architectural considerations were given higher priority," says Jens Fjord Thomsen.
The solar shading control system is supplied with LON relays and integrated into the building's CTS control. This means, on a day-to-day basis, employees can control the sun shading with wall-mounted touch panels, allowing them to manage the system as needed.
INTEGRATED WITH THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
The solar shading is integrated into the ceiling with covering boxes of various shapes. When the roller blinds are lowered, they conceal the smoke ventilation on the facade. "This means the sun shading must comply with strict fire ventilation regulations," says Project Director Morten Jensen from the contracting company M.T. Højgaard. He further explains: "This involves fireproof cables, specialised monitoring, integration into the fire alarm system, and a motor capable of retracting the blinds swiftly in the event of an alarm, within a maximum of 10 seconds."
To address this situation and ensure compliance with all regulations, Fischer therefore developed a specialised control box. "Fischer is a professional and responsible partner, consistently delivering high-quality results on schedule. They handle any challenges with great flexibility," concludes Morten Jensen.
